Beale parade, VIP party for Presley larger than life
Pat Kerr Tigrett summed up Saturday night’s “Elvis Presley 25th Anniversary Celebration of Life Parade” on Beale Street: “The smiles were amazing,” she said.
Jack Soden, president and CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, had a smile on his face. “It’s the best time I’ve had since I grew up,” he said.
Pat, general chairman of the parade, and Jack were among those at the VIP party that followed the parade to welcome the Elvis fans in Memphis to celebrate the silver anniversary of the King’s death.
The party, on the second floor and the roof of Elvis Presley’s Memphis, overlooked a wide screen on Beale showing footage of a performing Elvis in a white jumpsuit.
Guests dined on ribs and hot wings and danced to Elvis music performed by Zoe Alexander and the Alexander Band. The Memphis Horns - Andrew Love and Wayne Jackson - performed with the band.
Among those attending were Marvell Thomas and his wife, Naajee, Bernard and Joyce Lansky, Hal and Geri Lansky, Sam Smith, Kevin and Haden Kane, Paige Hurdle, Phil and Bridget Trenary, Sharon King, Bill Duke, Steve Doss, Lee and Lupe Warren, Jimmy Ogle, Randa Rosenblum, Nick and Melanie Crow, Jeff and Jill Sloan, Chuck Porter, Pam and Jack Michael, Robin Bender, Phil McCarty and Sean and Beth McCarty.
