Presley estate-licensed T-shirts to aid animals
The Memphis Shelby County Humane Society is using the image of Elvis Presley to launch its anti-cruelty campaign.
The organization reached a licensing agreement with Elvis Presley Enterprises to use a rare photo of Elvis with two dogs and the song title Don’t Be Cruel to kick off fund-raising for the campaign.
The shirt, which says “Don’t be Cruel to Animals,” was designed by Champion Awards.
T-shirts can be purchased at the Memphis Humane Society at 2238 Central or the Beale Street Visitors Center at 200 Beale.
The price ranges from $16 to $22, depending on the size.
The humane society is also holding its annual Paw Prints party and auction from 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday at The Pier restaurant, 100 Wagner Place.
The event includes dinner, dancing and auctioning of items such as airline tickets, paintings, jewelry and rugs.
Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at the humane society’s Web site http://www.memphishumane.org or by calling 888-PETS (7387) or by visiting the shelter at 2278 Central from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
