We asked some of the biggest talent gurus on the planet whether anyone, past or present, was or could be as big a celebrity as Elvis Presley.
From Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell to Rolling Stone music critic and historian Dave Marsh, the answers compared Elvis with everybody from Michael Jackson to Frank Sinatra to Marilyn Monroe.
What they had to say will be in our special Elvis edition of Friday’s Playbook or on the internet at www.goelvis.com. We don’t want to give it all away just yet, but one of our favorite comments was from Tom Brown at Turner Classic Movies in Atlanta. Brown, vice president of original productions, said Elvis and Sinatra, both eventual movie stars, began the same – with screaming girls at their feet.
“But people didn’t suddenly cut their hair real short, lose a lot of weight and wear a tuxedo to look like Sinatra.”
